Summer Field School

BCIT Business Summer Field Schools combine academic lectures held by BCIT instructors and international guest speakers with company visits and immersive cultural activities at international locations. By attending a Field School you’ll have the opportunity to receive credits for academic courses, learn about international business practices by visiting multinational companies, and ultimately, be fully immersed in the local culture.

The options for the 2024 BCIT Summer Field School include: Italy and Japan. There are several scholarships and awards available for studying abroad.

Italy

Dates: June 23 – July 11, 2024
Theme: Luxury Brand Management
Cities: Rome, Florence, Bologna, Trieste
Company visits: Ducati, Fincantieri Yachts, SMEG S.p.A, McArthur Glen Outlet, Chiarli Winery, Bulgari, Nonino Distillatori, Pagani
Cultural visits: Vatican Museum, Colosseum, Uffuzi Gallery, UNIBO, wine tasting
Courses:

• GLBL 5001 – Global Luxury Marketing (3.0 credits)
• GLBL 4020 – Global Visual Storytelling (3.0 credits)

Japan

Dates: June 30 – July 18, 2024
Theme: Innovation
Cities: Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya, Yokohama, Tokyo
Companies: Daimon Sake Brewery, Sony, Suntory Yamazaki Distillery, SCMaglev, Tower Knives, Toyota
Cultural visits: Cup Noodles Museum, Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, Japan Mint Museum, Kiyomizu-dera Temple,
Miraikan National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, Museum Meiji Mura, Nagoya Castle, Umeda Sky Building.
Courses:

• GLBL 4010: The Visual Culture of Japan (3.0 credits)
• GLBL 5002: Global Innovation – Products and Services (3.0 credits)

Who can go:

• Anyone 19 years or older

What is included:

• Two 3.0 credit courses
• Field trips to course-related sites and companies

Early bird price:

• $5,895 (domestic)*
• $7,695 (international)*

*Application must be received by November 15 for early bird fee to be applied

  Regular price:

• $6,195 (domestic)**
• $7,995 (international)**

**Airfare and personal expenses not included.  Price is inclusive of program fees and course tuition.  International differential applies to course tuition.
