Vancouver Institute of Media Arts (VanArts) and the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) have partnered to create the VanArts-BCIT Pathway: a cross-institutional agreement enabling VanArts graduates entry into BCIT’s School of Business + Media. If you complete the entire pathway you will have the opportunity to earn either a BCIT Advanced Diploma in Business Management and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Degree, or a BCIT Advanced Diploma in Technical Arts.

What is the VanArts – BCIT pathway?

All VanArts one-year programs prepare you for rewarding careers in the entertainment arts. The VanArts-BCIT Pathway program will give you the tools to either broaden your education and develop your critical thinking skills in business management, strategic, and critical thinking through advanced Business courses, or expand on your skillset in 3D graphics and program in the Technical Arts program.

After completing either pathway, international students may apply for a post-graduate work permit. International students looking to obtain a study permit or work permit should contact Canadian Immigration & Citizenship.

Year 1: VanArts

Professional Diploma

It all starts by completing the one-year professional diploma program of your choice.

Year 2: BCIT

Advanced Diploma in Business Management

After completing a VanArts program, you are ready to expand your knowledge and cultivate business management skills in BCIT’s Business Management Advanced Diploma. This eight-month program provides an introduction to current business practices, preparing you to apply a disciplined and professional approach to management.

Advanced Diploma in Technical Arts

If you are looking to broaden your knowledge base and proficiency in 3D graphics, game design, or programming, enroll in BCIT’s Technical Arts Advanced Diploma program.

Year 3: BCIT

Bachelor of Business Administration Degree (optional – requires completion of the Advanced Diploma in Business Management to qualify)

After completing BCIT’s Business Management Advanced Diploma you have the option to enroll in BCIT’s Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Degree program. This 12-month degree emphasizes critical and strategic thinking and provides you the opportunity to be better prepared for career advancement by enhancing the skills developed in your diploma programs at BCIT and VanArts.

Enter the workforce

After completing either a VanArts Professional Diploma or BCIT’s Business Management Advanced Diploma, you may enter the workforce. Please note: international students are eligible to apply to the Canadian Immigration and Citizens Office for a post-graduate work permit upon completion of BCIT’s Business Management Advanced Diploma.
