Everything that I studied at BCIT helped to prepare me for the job. I already had a passion for travel, tourism, and exploring new places. I really enjoyed the Tourism Marketing and Sales Option (former Tourism Management) program because I learned how I can promote my hometown, my province, or where I call home.
BCIT differs from studying at another university because your class sizes are smaller, you get to work more one-on-one with your classmates and your professors, and you get more experience in the industries that you want to be working in when you graduate. All of the faculty at BCIT were very supportive and always available to you to get advice from or to come and talk to and will support you in any way that they can.
I chose BCIT because I heard from many friends who went to BCIT that had such a great experience and were able to get jobs right away after they graduated and that was something that was really important to me. The best thing about the relationships that I made at BCIT were that they were made with like-minded people and they are relationships that I still have to this day, whether they were classmates or the faculty. You learn so much about the industry and you truly are prepared for when you graduate and you are ready to hit the ground running.
BCIT definitely set me up for the real world. There were so many situations in my classes or outside of school that I had to deal with. Not only with the stuff that I learned inside the classroom, but also outside the classroom working in groups and other people and learning from the industry and learning hands-on.
