After completing his BSc in molecular biology at Simon Fraser University in 2002, Dave then pursued an advanced certificate in forensic science technology at BCIT, where he developed his passion for forensics. He combined his background in science with his knowledge of cinematography, photography and computers to specialize in the field of forensic video analysis and surveillance technology. During his 6 years with the RCMP, Dave testified in court as an expert witness in the field of forensic video analysis and surveillance technology on multiple occasions.
As manager of BCIT’s Forensic Video and Surveillance Technology lab, Dave oversees all training in the areas of: forensic video, imaging, cell-phone forensics, and surveillance video technology. Additionally, the lab acts as an authority on video and photographic evidence – offering its expertise on many high profile cases, including the recent Braidwood Inquiry into the death of Robert Dziekanski. Dave McKay and the lab were recently featured on the Discovery channel’s “Daily Planet”.
Dave McKay’s current research interests include the development of advanced real-time video analysis software, self-sufficient intelligent camera systems, and complex forensic databases for the purpose of linkage through visual identification.

Jason Moore is a faculty member at BCIT who works in the accredited BCIT Forensic DNA Laboratory. In this role, Jason has been extensively involved in forensic DNA testing, quality assurance, research, and curriculum development. Jason also teaches forensics DNA courses at BCIT and is the Program Coordinator for the joint UBC-BCIT Combined Honours in Biochemistry and Forensic Science. Jason completed his BSc in Biochemistry from UBC, an Advanced Certificate in Forensic Science at BCIT, and a Master’s degree from SFU while conducting his thesis in the field of ancient DNA.

Ken completed his M.A. (Criminology) at Simon Fraser University in 1995. Since then, he has worked as an analyst with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. He has worked as a Tactical Analyst on a variety of investigations under the provincial and federal mandates. He presently works in the field of Strategic Intelligence Analysis. He has been involved with the FSCT CIA program from its inception.

Raymond Yu has been working in the Forensic Science and Technology area since 2004. As Program Head of BCIT Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity, Raymond appreciates being involved in helping create a more secure future. He also enjoys helping students with their course and career planning, and supporting their search for co-op/internship placements. He works with employers closely to assist them with recruiting potential employees from his pool of both full-time and part-time students. Raymond received his MBA (major: Management Information System) from City University and his EdD (major: Leadership) from SFU.

Sheila Early, a long-time Forensic Nursing Educator at BCIT, was a recipient of the 2019 YWCA Women of Distinction Award in the Health and Wellness category. She founded the first Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program for Canada in 1993 and created a new respected Forensic Health Sciences Graduate Certificate Program at BCIT.
