IMPORTANT NOTICE: The tuition portion of PELD courses is free for Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and protected person/Convention refugee status.  In addition, all students pay ancillary fees (student association fees, BCIT ID card fees, etc.).

Students may also apply for the Adult Upgrading Grant (AUG) if they qualify to do so. This grant is intended to help support the costs associated with student fees, textbooks, unsubsidized childcare, and transportation for students in need of financial assistance. To learn more about the grant or to download the application form, please see Upgrading and ESL Funding and submit the form to the Financial Aid office before the last day of your course.

To register, students need to:

Step 1: Send a copy of your English placement results or your academic transcript to PELD@bcit.ca to get approval to register into our courses.

Step 2: Contact the Student Information and Enrolment Services at 604-434-1610 to complete your registration and pay the fees within 2 business days.

Step 3: Visit the BCIT Bookstore to check the required textbooks and, just before the course start date, log into the Learning Hub to access the class and course materials.

Registration is on a “first come, first served” basis. Because of the high demand, we cannot hold seats for students. Students can register for multiple courses; however, students cannot take two similar courses at the same time. This is a laddered program, so in order to move up to the next level, you need to be placed in the course or pass the previous course.

There is no waiting list for PELD courses. If the course is full, please continue to check the website frequently for the most up-to-date status of the courses. To secure your seat in the course, you must email PELD@bcit.ca to get approval before the start date. If you are unable to attend the first two classes, you will lose your seat.
