Reporting Platform for Sexualized Violence Incidents

Reporting sexualized violence is not easy. If you have decided to report it, you can choose how would you like to proceed, and change your minds at any time.

• Your report can be completely anonymous, or you can provide your personal information. Any personal information will be treated with the highest level of confidentiality.
• You can decide if you will prefer to make a disclosure or a complaint.
• You can make your report at any time.

Disclosure

Disclosure means telling someone of your experience of sexualized violence or misconduct.  It does not automatically mean you want to take further action or file a complaint.

Complaint

Making a complaint of Sexualized Violence or Misconduct means asking that the matter be investigated by BCIT.

• All responses to complaints or disclosures will be handled with sensitivity and urgency, prioritizing your safety and well-being.
• After submitting a report, you will be contacted by the Sexualized Violence Response Team in the method you have asked to be contacted.
• Your preferences regarding confidentiality, intervention, and follow-up will be respected throughout the process.
• You will have access to supports throughout the process, including available resources and services.
• BCIT is committed to taking appropriate action in response to reports of sexualized violence, including investigating allegations and holding perpetrators accountable. All reports will be addressed according to BCIT’s institutional policies, including the Sexualized Violence and Misconduct Policy, Student Code of Conduct (Non-Academic), and/or the Harassment & Discrimination Policy.

• This platform is intended for reporting non-emergency incidents of sexualized violence. If you’re in danger, feel threatened, need medical assistance, please call 911, or reach out our Safety, Security and Emergency Management team at 604-451-6856.
• Our reporting platform for Sexualized Violence Incidents is designed for incidents that occur within our community inside and outside our campuses. If the assault was made from an external member of our community, we may assist you in finding appropriate resources but may not be able to take direct action.
• While BCIT respects anonymity preferences, anonymous reports may limit our ability to fully investigate and address the incident. Providing as much information as possible can help us better understand and respond to your report.
