This is the primary source for BCIT-related communicable diseases information.
BCIT’s campuses and services are open and fully operational and will remain so unless directed to close by a future public health order and posted on our BCIT Breaking News page.
At BCIT, the safety of our students, faculty and staff, and the wider community is our first priority. BCIT is guided by our Communicable Disease Prevention Plan [PDF], and – when required – our Pandemic Scenario Response Plan [PDF], and any relevant workplace safety legislation.
If you have a question that has not been addressed on this page, please contact BCIT Safety and Security.
Keeping our Campuses Healthy
- If you are feeling unwell, please stay home to protect others and take care of your own health. It is important that we take care of each other and follow all BCCDC guidelines on communicable diseases for post-secondary institutions.
- Practice good hygiene on campus by washing your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If a sink is unavailable, you can use 60-90% alcohol-based hand sanitizers. Avoid touching your face, and when you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or the crease of your elbow, followed by handwashing.
- Masks can be a great tool for preventing the spread of infections. Masks are optional and individuals may choose to wear them as a personal choice. We expect everyone in the BCIT community to respect each other’s choices and comfort levels.
