The Health, Safety and Environment Division uses the following platforms for BCIT health and safety training courses:

Required courses for all employees
within 30 days of starting at BCIT
- Employee OHS Orientation
- WHMIS for Non-Office Areas
- Respect in the Workplace (Respect, Diversity and Inclusion Office)
Note: As of October 1st, 2022, changes have been made to WHMIS education and training requirements at BCIT. In the Employee OHS Orientation Course, each new employee will receive a basic training and education about WHMIS in office settings. At the end of the module, each employee will also have the opportunity to assess their own risk with regards to hazardous products by completing the WHMIS Risk Assessment.

Required courses for JOHSC members
- BCIT JOHSC New Member Orientation (within 30 days of joining)
- JOHSC OHS Basics Pt 1 (within 6 months of joining)
Department/school specific safety courses
Other courses are required for specific schools and departments. For more information, please contact your supervisor/manager, refer to the OHS education/training matrix or the BCIT HSE Division.
