Disaster day

BCIT’s Disaster Day training exercise is held every second year in early June. The event is one of Burnaby’s largest disaster preparedness events and is observed by other post-secondary institutions, local and provincial governments, and local organizations. The exercise enables BCIT’s emergency response teams—Policy Group, Emergency Operations Centre, Field Emergency Response, Emergency Shelter and Accommodation, Animal Response, unmanned aircraft response, Amateur Radio and First Aid—to practice essential skills learned in their training and prepare for a real emergency, while promoting teamwork with team members who may not work together on a normal day.

Check out the following video to see the level of preparedness that BCIT has in the event of a disaster.
