Course details

Wood processing cutting tools are an essential part of any sawmill. Their safe and effective operation is a key factor for the profitability of a plant. This course provides a basic description of machinery and processing tools employed at every stage of the lumber manufacturing process. The focus is on the function of the tool in the production line, the main components of the tool, basic service requirements, and safety standards for operation and maintenance of the tool. The course provides a foundation for managing operational needs and supporting technical staff who service the tools. Students engage in their learning through online activities across the term, and in-class activities during an onsite week.
