  • Reflect on the impact of various cultural, societal, and contextual influences on the woman's/pregnant person's and their family's health outcomes throughout the childbearing experience.
  • Apply foundational Perinatal and Neonatal nursing knowledge to the care of women/pregnant people and families throughout low-risk pregnancies and childbirths to determine specialized care, provide education, and promote healthy outcomes.
  • Describe the nurse's role in leveraging their specialty knowledge to promote, protect and support the physiologic processes of labour, birth, postpartum, and the neonatal transition to extrauterine life.
  • Utilize knowledge of infant behaviour, vulnerability, and maternal/neonatal physiological changes in the postpartum period to determine specialized care.
  • Apply foundational Perinatal and Neonatal nursing knowledge to the care of healthy dyads and families during low-risk postpartum to determine specialized care, provide education, and promote healthy outcomes.
  • Summarize the role of the nurse in promoting, protecting, and supporting positive infant feeding experiences.
  • Reflect on your own personal beliefs, values, and biases in the context of nursing care that promotes, protects, and supports positive experiences for families.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of resources and frameworks that can aid in assessment, clinical decision-making, and communication within Perinatal and Neonatal nursing practice.
