Overview
In the BCIT Graduate Certificate in Business Administration you will gain practical business skills at a master’s level that can be applied across multiple industries. Graduates have the opportunity to continue their studies to complete a master’s degree or to enter the workforce in a managerial role.
About the program
The program incorporates a blend of assessments, including case studies, problem-based learning, collaborative group work, self-reflections, and individual projects. Students are exposed to real-world business issues throughout their coursework, culminating in a capstone project where students will be given the opportunity to work on solving real problems facing industry.
- Two terms to complete: Six graduate level courses taught over nine months (September to May)
- Blended course delivery: Evenings at the Vancouver campus combined with online learning
- Cohort program: You will work through this full-time program with your cohort, sharing your experience and expertise, and building a professional network that will last long after you have graduated
- Business capstone project: Students assume the role of a business professional and develop a report and presentation, addressing solutions to real-world industry challenges
- Laddering options: Articulations with partners are being developed so that alumni can ladder to master degree programs

Application processing
This program is open to applications beginning October 1 (or next business day).Entrance requirements
Applicants must meet all entrance requirements and will be accepted on a first qualified basis as long as space remains.
- Post-secondary education: A recognized bachelor’s degree in any field
- English language proficiency: Graduate Studies – English Studies 12 (67%) or equivalent
- Post-secondary course: one of statistics, calculus, physics or mathematics. The following acceptable courses are available at BCIT:
Applicants who have completed post-secondary studies outside of Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia or New Zealand will require a basic evaluation of their credentials by the International Credential Evaluation Service (ICES). Credential evaluation reports from other Canadian services may be considered. These reports must include course-by-course evaluations and GPA calculations.
Recommended for success
- For the seminars to have graduate-level conversations and learning outcomes overall, it is preferred that students have at least two years progressive work experience that can help conceptualize the theoretical and applied learning in the program.
International applicants
This program is available to international applicants.
Study permit: A valid BCIT study permit is required prior to starting the program.
Students enrolled in this program must complete the mandatory work component to qualify for graduation. A co-op work permit is required prior to starting the work component.Apply to program

Bring Your Own Device
Students are required to have their own laptop. Please refer to the Bring Your Own Device Specifications [PDF] for requirements. Plug-in outlets will be provided at most stations in classrooms, but not in all classrooms, so please ensure you have at least two hours of battery life available at the beginning of each class. A laptop with a Windows operating system is strongly recommended for this program.
Laptop costs vary depending on the configuration chosen, but will likely range from approximately $1,000 to $2,000. Please note that a tablet computer will not be sufficient.
For online classes, it is important you have a stable and consistent internet connection to access course content.

Program length
One academic year (nine months), full-time.Grading
Students will be graded on a percentage scale. Courses must be passed with a 60% mark.Program delivery
Blended: This program is delivered partly on campus and partly online.
This program will be delivered in a hybrid/blended format with a combination of synchronous in-class and asynchronous online delivery. All courses will take place in classrooms at the BCIT Downtown Campus.Continue your education
BCIT is currently working towards academic and transfer credit agreements with other educational institutions so that students can complete an MBA. When these are complete, a description of the academic credits available at each institution will be posted. It is expected that the first of these will completed shortly.
