Overview
The Thermal Power Plant Simulation Proficiency microcredential is a paradigm shift in the power industry, enhancing safety, sustainability, cost-efficiency, and the environment. Learners and engineers will gain unprecedented opportunities to master emergency response, optimize workflows, and boost plant efficiency.
About the program
The simulator activities associated with this program are a cloud solution that learners will access via a web browser.
The e-learning platform developed and supported by our partner Kongsberg Digital is accessible via the K-Sim Connect portal, providing numerous benefits such as increased flexibility, scalability, and ease of use.
This version also enables learners to access the simulator from any device with an internet connection, making it easy to train teams or continue education from any location. Additionally, the new platform will allow for easier updates and maintenance so learners will always have access to the latest features and technologies.
The K-Sim Thermal Power Plant simulator is based on a real thermal power plant and aimed at training and assessing learners on their knowledge in plant operations such as plant start-up, shut-down, safety procedures, and emergency scenarios. The simulator has built-in assessments, which are part of the exercises and are generated automatically at the end of the exercises. Through this experiential learning, students will acquire and improve skills in every aspect of the complex behavior of the thermal power plant. The training objectives are achieved through controlled training and realistic simulation of a thermal power plant, leading to a better understanding of the total plant operation.
Who it’s for
The program is designed for power engineers and process operators who intend to challenge higher levels of Power Engineering certification. It can also benefit internationally trained engineers who intend to apply for registration as power engineers.
What grads can do
Power engineers and process operators operate and maintain reactors, turbines, boilers, generators, stationary engines, and auxiliary equipment to generate electrical power and to provide heat, light, refrigeration, and other utility services for commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings, and other work sites.
