What do ironworkers, metal fabricators and boilermakers have in common? They help build, shape and manufacture our surroundings. From changing skylines to ship building, steel trade workers place their stamp on our future.

Our programs

• Boilermaker: Boilermakers assemble and repair boilers, vessels, tanks, heat exchangers and other heavy metal structures.
• Ironworker: An ironworker welds, burns, rivets, drills, fits and fabricates structural shapes and plates in the erection of structural steel for buildings and bridges. Ironworkers often work at heights.
• Metal Fabricator: Fabricators build products using steel, aluminum, stainless steel and various other alloys.

Our training facilities

BCIT is the largest training facility of its kind in North America, and has a proud 50 year tradition of student-centred, practical training. The programs make extensive use of advanced computer modeling, something that is still rare in steel trades training. This advanced technology allows students to easily transition from classroom to worksite.
