Overview
The Road Area Manager Certification Statement of Completion is a bundling of six courses that build students’ knowledge in road area management. The courses were developed in partnership with the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) and have recently gone through a comprehensive initiative to update content and to revise the delivery model from distance education courses to online courses available through BCIT’s educational platform, the Learning Hub.
The Road Area Manager Certification Statement of Completion, includes the following courses:
AMRC 1011 – Soils, Aggregate and Pit Management
AMRC 1012 – Survey Design Phases and Traffic Engineering
AMRC 1013 – Introduction to Highway Construction and Drainage
AMRC 1014 – Development Services and Traffic Management Principles
AMRC 1015 – Ministry Communications
AMRC 1016 – Highway Maintenance Agreement
Course descriptions and learning outcomes can be found by visiting each course page. Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure students should contact Matt_Magee@bcit.ca directly to register into a course.
AMRC 1011, 1012, and 1013 are recommended to be taken in sequence. AMRC 1014, 1015 and 1016 are stand alone courses and can be taken at any time. All 6 courses must be completed in order for students to receive the statement of completion and recognition by MOTI. Please email Andrea_Dusanj@bcit.ca to receive your statement of completion.
BCIT also offers a related course, AMRC 1017 – Field Practicum. This course is not part of the BCIT Statement of Completion, however it is a course that MOTI recommends that you complete. You have 52 weeks to complete the AMRC 1017 Field Practicum and AMRC 1011, 1012, and 1013 must be completed before attempting this course.
If you have any questions about the AMRC course-bundle, please email Andrea_Dusanj@bcit.ca.
