Overview
About the program
Participants of the Residential Air to Air Heat Pump Specialist Microcredential program will develop applied knowledge and skills — while learning from a team of industry instructors, and completing practical design and installation learning activities. This microcredential specifically incorporates emerging best practices and design considerations to ensure quality heat pump system installations that meet homeowner expectations, and provide heating and cooling during extreme weather events.
The Thermal Environmental Comfort Association (TECA), Home Performance Stakeholder Council (HPSC), and BCIT have partnered to ensure industry-relevant and current curriculum, informed by changing regulations, climate conditions, and lessons learned from the field. This microcredential will accelerate knowledge dissemination and support the industry shift towards high efficiency heating and cooling systems in residential buildings.
The program consists of five courses that build upon each other in knowledge and skills. Upon completion, you will have:
- Confidence to evaluate various heat pump solutions to meet owners’ requirements in a variety of new and existing homes.
- Ability to prepare a quality design for various types of heat pump systems in both new and existing homes.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute a quality installation of various types of air to air heat pump systems.
