Overview
Please note: this program is not currently open to general registration.
Develop your first mobile application in 12-weeks with no previous programming experience.
The Low-Code Mobile Application Development (LCAD) program teaches you to create mobile and business apps through visual drag-and-drop interfaces with simple logic, without coding from scratch.
LCAD is designed to provide you with a blend of practical technical skills and core competencies such as collaboration, digital literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving that can be applied to a variety of industries. Upon completing this microcredential, you will have greater confidence in your ability to participate as an inventor, innovator, and agent of change to solve practical problems in our rapidly changing world.
This modular part-time studies program is structured to fit your schedule; content is offered entirely online, with a blend of live and self-paced classes.
Why Low-Code?
Low-code, as a general social and technological movement, is expected to continue growing significantly.
It’s estimated that by 2025, 70% of new applications developed by enterprises will use some form of low-code or no-code technologies (up from less than 25% in 2020).
This is due to a shortage of skilled software engineers and software developers combined with rising demand for customized applications.
Low-code development tools enable:
- Rapid delivery of apps by a much broader range of creators.
- Development of business solutions without incurring the cost of hiring or contracting work.
- Faster automation of processes, accelerating the digital transformation of organizations and society.
Who should complete the Low Code Mobile Application Development microcredential?
Low-Code Mobile Application Development may be right for you if want to:
- Learn and apply app development concepts and processes.
- Identify real-world problems and creatively build solutions for them.
- Bridge communication between technical and non-technical team members.
- Develop mobile applications using low-code development tools that don’t rely on formal knowledge of coding.
Low-Code Mobile Application Development consists of three courses that you will need to complete in order to qualify for the microcredential. Once you complete the courses, contact the program to receive your microcredential. View details

Microcredential format and time commitment
Microcredentials are flexible, small, modular pieces of learning structured to fit your schedule.
The LCAD microcredential comprises three courses offered over 12 weeks entirely online, with a blend of live and self-paced classes. Each week, a two-hour live Zoom session is offered on Monday or Tuesday evenings. You should expect to complete an additional four hours of self-directed (asynchronous) content throughout the week.
For maximum flexibility, it’s possible to complete the program entirely asynchronously. However, you must register and reach out to the lead instructor with your request no later than two business days after the course start date.
Program deliverables
The LCAD is competency-based, which focuses on practical demonstrations of learning and mastery of skills through projects, writing and discussion, rather than memorization-focused exams.
By the end of this program, you will have built a CRM (customer relationship management system) mobile application that allows a user to:
- Authenticate users
- Store and edit customer data
- Retrieve, search and filter data
- Share information across users
You can use the skills you’ve learned to customize your mobile app to your own ideas and needs, as well as add specialized integrations such as:
- Take and upload photos
- GPS tracking and maps
- Scan QR and barcodes
- Book appointments
- Track customer interactions
- Rules and workflows for specific users
- Ratings or voting.
Program length
The maximum time to complete this program is two years.
