Overview
The part-time Long-term Care Management Statement of Completion comprises 4 courses designed to equip you with essential skills for effective leadership in long-term care. You'll learn strategies to foster a culture of continuous quality improvement, ensuring residents' safety, security, and satisfaction in their care experience.
This four course, part-time, online program is designed primarily for staff who aspire to move into leadership positions within the rapidly expanding long-term care industry, but is also open to individuals with experience in other industries. The program will provide you with an overview of the key concepts necessary for successful leadership in long-term care. You will learn about the uniqueness of the long-term care environment, the legislative considerations and the population being served. You will be challenged to apply concepts that support a culture of continuous quality improvement where residents feel safe, secure and satisfied in receiving care that meets their needs.

- You’re ready to launch your career in Long-Term Care Management or are seeking to move from entry-level to administrative and professional-level positions
- You’ve been working in Long-Term Care Management and want industry specific education to position yourself for career advancement

About Flexible Learning
Take a single course or work towards a credential at your own pace.
Part-time courses are offered in a variety of scheduling formats, including at night or on weekends, flexible daytime delivery, or you can opt for distance or online learning. If you meet the prerequisites and there’s space available, you can register for a course immediately. Courses are offered in each of three terms: Fall (September), Winter (January) and Spring/Summer (April).
Recommended for success
- English language proficiency: Category 3 – English Studies 12 (50%) or equivalent
Formal application to the Statement of Completion is not required. Upon completing the courses, email the Program Contact with your full name, student number, and mailing address so that a Statement of Completion can be issued.
International applicants
This program is available to international applicants. A valid study permit is required prior to starting the program.
Scheduled Intakes
Ongoing Flexible Learning (Part-time Studies) intakes: January, April, and September.

Bring your own device
Most courses and programs in the School of Business + Media are BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). Please ensure you bring a laptop to every class. Plug-in outlets will be provided at most stations in classrooms, but not in all classrooms, so please ensure you have at least 2 hours of battery life available at the beginning of each class. Check the following recommended computer requirements prior to the start of class. If a program or course does not require you to provide your own device, that information will be provided by your instructor or indicated in the course outline.
For online classes, it is important you have a stable and consistent internet connection to access course content.

Please note: part-time programs and courses are open enrolment and although we make every effort to accommodate demand, course registration cannot be guaranteed in every semester. High demand courses fill quickly and may result in students unable to register for a course that semester. Courses may also be cancelled due to low enrolment.

Mentorship Program
The Long-term Care Management Mentoring Program is a six month volunteer program that matches experienced industry professionals with qualified students. The intent is to support the professional development and career success of the program graduates.
To qualify, mentee candidates must have completed BUSA 1500 – Long Term Care Management and be in the final term of the statement of completion program. Mentees will be selected by the program facilitator based on the expected benefit to the mentee and the availability of suitable mentors.
More information on the mentoring program will be provided while attending the BUSA 1500 – Long Term Care Management course.
