About the program
The International Perfusion Equivalency Assessment (IPEA) Statement of Completion is a collaboration with the Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusionists (CSCP) and is not intended to replace the Cardiovascular Perfusion Advanced Certificate program. This collaborative initiative is to address the ongoing need and critical shortage in the industry.
Who it’s for
Prospective applicants to the IPEA Statement of Completion must receive pre-approval through the CSCP and apply through the CSCP website. This program is intended for internationally trained perfusionists with current Canadian employment offers.

Entrance Requirements
- Applicants must receive pre-approval through the Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusionists (CSCP). Please visit the CSCP website for more information. CSCP will require the following for the pre-approval:
- Certification of graduation from an accredited perfusion program.
- Actively employed as a Cardiovascular Perfusionist in the country they are applying from
- English language proficiency: Category 1 – English Studies 12 (73%) or equivalent
- Proof of eligibility to work in Canada.
- Offer of employment with a Canadian healthcare institution including:
- Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)
- Requirement to complete the IPEA process followed by successful certification of CSCP
- Offer of employment with a Canadian healthcare institution including:
- Certification and in good standing with one of the following associations:
- Comprehensive credential assessment report from one of the following:
- Processing fee:
- Non-refundable application fee must be paid in CAD to CSCP.
- BCIT tuition is separate and must be paid in addition to the CSCP fees.
- Certification of graduation from an accredited perfusion program.
Note: Once an applicant has been accepted into the IPEA program, CSCP will inform BCIT that all IPEA entrance requirements have been met.

Ongoing throughout the year.
International applicants
This program is available to international applicants who currently have a valid status in Canada other than a study permit. International applicants accepted into this program are not eligible for a study permit.
Apply to program
Formal application to the Statement of Completion is not required. Upon successful completion of the courses, email the program contact with your full name, student number, and mailing address to be issued a Statement of Completion.

Ongoing Flexible Learning (Part-time Studies) intakes: January, April, and September.

Tuition fees
Flexible Learning (Part-time Studies) tuition is charged on a course-by-course basis. Please see the Flexible Learning Tuition & Fees page for more information on domestic and international tuitions.
International applicants will need to pay the associated CSCP fees for entrance into the program. BCIT tuition is separate and must be paid in addition to the CSCP fees.

Program Details
Program length
12 weeks.
Grading
Students must achieve 60% on all theory-based examinations and will be required to complete 20 satisfactory clinical cases.
Program delivery
Blended: This program is delivered partly on campus and partly online.
All courses can be completed online except for the clinical. The clinical placement must be in Canada.
