Overview
The Essentials of Community Energy and Emissions Management microcredential is for individuals interested in enhancing their expertise in sustainable community development and energy management. Ideal for professionals in the fields of urban planning, engineering, environmental science, and public administration, this microcredential offers a comprehensive and practical approach to understanding and implementing energy-efficient and clean energy solutions in communities. It centres on learning how to create a Community Energy and Emissions Management Plan (CEEP), providing the foundational knowledge and skills to address the challenges of energy use and emissions in community planning and management.
This microcredential consists of six courses delivered mostly through live interaction with an instructor that cover topics in on-site renewable energy, zero emission and zero energy buildings, and net zero carbon transportation. Upon completion, you will be able to:
- Identify the sources and distribution of energy and emissions within a community.
- Analyse the impact of buildings on climate change, understand their energy consumption, and develop strategies to reduce their emissions.
- Assess the influence of transportation on climate change, understand its energy use, and devise methods to lower its emissions.
- Explore opportunities for producing clean and renewable energy at the community level, including methods for carbon storage and capture.
- Deliver a Community Energy and Emissions Plan (CEEP)
About the program
