Wage: FSA student employee rate – $18.86 (July 1, 2024 wage increases to $19.43 under collective agreement)
Position Overview
Indigenous Peer Champions are senior current BCIT students (second-year level and above) of Indigenous (First Nations, Metis or Inuit) descent who work 1-8 hours per week per academic semester. Champions act as a guide and a resource to first-year students (Mentees) to support them to succeed in their post-secondary educational transition experience and academic endeavours at BCIT. Duties
• To introduce social, cultural and academic environments to new Indigenous students
• To introduce BCIT resources available to all students
• To answer student questions and share their educational experiences
• To act as a role model to Mentees
• To familiarize Indigenous students with the Gathering Place
• To promote Indigenous Initiatives & Partnerships Events and Services
• To provide monthly reports
Requirements
• Detailed knowledge and appreciation of all of BCIT’s services at all campuses (Burnaby, Marine, AIC, DTC, ATC)
• Experience with team-building exercises
• Knowledgeable and understanding of Indigenous communities, cultures and protocols
• Be empathetic and compassionate to the student experience
• Be a team player

Work arrangements defined:
- Resident – you will work at your primary in-office headquarters on all scheduled workdays.
- Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 8 days per month at your primary in-office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.
- Hybrid 10 – you will work a minimum of 10 days per month at your primary in-office headquarters (typically one week in/one week out or up to 3 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.
- Mobile – you will work remotely or in the field on scheduled workdays within British Columbia, with the requirement to be at your primary on-site headquarters by exception only.
Indigenous Program Manager
Compensation: $24.00 to $35.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. Comprehensive benefits will
be provided.
Location: LBN staff work from home. This role will require some travel to Indigenous communities across
British Columbia. Frequent program visits in the Lower Mainland of BC will be required.
Work hours: Work hours are flexible; however, they must overlap with the core work hours set in the
contract (currently set as 3 pm to 7 pm PT, Mondays to Thursdays). The nature of this position may
require some work outside of regular hours. Full-time, part-time negotiable.
About Learning Buddies Network:
The Learning Buddies Network (LBN) is a BC grassroots service charity that provides free one-on-one
mentoring for elementary students in need of support in reading and math. Recipients are
teacher-identified elementary school children who struggle with basic academics (the Buddies) and
whose families are not in a position to help, usually because of social, linguistic, and/or economic
factors. We recruit and train secondary school and university students as our mentors/tutors. Through
the close relationship that develops between the young mentor and their buddy, enhanced
social-emotional growth and self-esteem follow, and the child experiences true achievement resulting
from their efforts.

Savage Society
Summer Production Coordinator
The Production Coordinator will work on the Summer Arts Team and be responsible for the
production planning and execution of the Music Series alongside with Music Programmer and
also support the planning of upcoming Savage Society productions. This is an opportunity to
work in live events and work with professional performing Indigenous artists.
The Production Coordinator will report to the Artistic Associate, Music Programming and will be
responsible for:
Project and schedule management of Summer Arts Series
Securing performers, negotiating contracts and contract administration
Securing and fulfilling production technical setup requirements from Artists including
equipment needs
Engage with venues
Be the lead for event set up for all events set up and strike
Create a final report based on summer project
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Experience working with Indigenous storytelling, performance, dance, theatre, music
and other forms of artistic expression that honour culturally specific knowledges,
languages, territories and experiences;
● Ability and willingness to share Indigenous knowledge and ways of knowing with
Indigenous and non-Indigenous people and organizations to effect change, and
understanding and respecting cultural protocols in undertaking this work;
● A strong interest in performing arts production, and/or non-profit management,
particularly in a performing arts setting;
● Strong interpersonal and communications skills;
● Attention to detail, precision and adaptability;
● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
