Optional Life Insurance is available for eligible employees only to purchase additional life insurance coverage at competitive rates, with the convenience of payroll deductions. This is a personal policy, for eligible employees only, and is in addition to the group life benefit coverage under the existing BCIT group benefit plan. Our plan does not cover spouses or dependents. Those regular employees who qualify for Group Life Insurance under the BCIT policy may apply for the Optional Life Insurance.
How to apply? Send a request to hr@bcit.ca with the dollar amount you would like to purchase. HR will complete the Administrator section of the Application and Evidence of Insurability form and return to you to complete and submit to Manulife. To submit the form to Manulife, please use either method:
- Log in to Manulife online, click on “Send documents” on the home page, upload the completed form, choose “Evidence of Insurability” from the drop down menu under File Category, type in “Optional Life Application form” in the Description and hit send. You will receive a confirmation of submission on the screen.
- Mail the form to the address noted in the Mailing Instructions.
When you have been approved, Manulife will notify you and will let us know to begin payroll deductions.
