Entrance Awards

Step 1: Review the eligibility criteria

You must meet all of the criteria listed in the General eligibility criteria section.

Step 2: Determine your eligibility

Read each entrance award description listed in List of Entrance Awards and descriptions [PDF] and determine which awards you are eligible to apply for.

Step 3: Prepare your application

Complete the following application forms and be sure to include all supporting documentation requested.

Note: If you are having trouble with adding an electronic signature to the fillable forms, please download the application form and use Adobe Acrobat to add a signature. Also, not all fillable forms are compatible with all internet browsers. Please try a different browser if you are having trouble with the forms.

• 2024-2025 BCIT Entrance Awards Application Form [PDF] – required for all applicants
• Confidential High School Reference (Form C) [PDF] – required for President’s Entrance Awards applicants only
• Confidential Reference (Form D) [PDF] – if required, refer to award description supporting documentation

Step 4: Gather your transcripts

Both high school AND post secondary transcripts are required with all applications.

• Include your high school transcript*.
  • CURRENT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT applicants must include an official high school transcript showing all final grade 11 and grade 12 marks and mid-term marks for any grade 12 courses that are not yet completed.  Contact your high school for transcripts showing both mid-term AND final marks.
  • ALL OTHER APPLICANTS (not current high school students) must include a copy of their FINAL high school transcript. If you attended high school in BC or the Yukon, you may be able to obtain a copy of your transcript through the BC Student Transcripts Service (STS) or by contacting your high school or school district.
  • Photocopies are accepted.
  • Report cards are NOT accepted unless accompanied by your official high school transcript.
  • English translations must accompany transcripts that are in another language.
• Include your transcripts from every post-secondary institution you have attended*.
  • You must include the front and back sides of your transcripts.
  • Photocopies of official transcripts are accepted.
  • Unofficial transcripts or copies of certificates are NOT accepted.
  • Transcripts provided must include final grades.
  • English translations must accompany transcripts that are in another language.

*You are responsible for submitting documentation (a copy of your high school transcript, copies of transcripts from all post-secondary schools attended, translations of documents) with your entrance awards application. All transcripts and documents submitted for BCIT admission are the property of the Registrar’s Office and are part of a student’s official file and are not normally returned or photocopied for applicants. If you are a BCIT graduate, a copy of your BCIT transcript or an unofficial statement of marks is still required.

Step 5: Assemble your completed application package in the following order

• Entrance Awards Application Form
• Your Personal Statement – page 3
• Your application must be signed (only handwritten or digitally verified signatures accepted) – page 3
• Your high school transcript – required, see step 4
• Your transcripts from every post-secondary institution you have attended – required, see step 4
• Award-specific Information – if required
• Confidential High School Reference (Form C) – if required
• Two Confidential Reference (Form D) – if required

Step 6: Submit your application form and supporting documentation

Submit your completed application package (application form and all supporting documents) by the appropriate deadline by email to: sawards@bcit.ca

• Applicants are responsible for ensuring all documents are received by the BCIT Student Financial Aid and Awards office by the applicable deadline date. Incomplete or late BCIT entrance awards applications will not be considered.
• All BCIT entrance awards applicants are notified of decisions in writing.
• Entrance awards are tenable only at BCIT and are not transferable.
• Entrance awards are not deferrable and must be accepted in the year in which they are awarded.
• Applicants must remain in the program that their award was given for.
• Failure to adhere to all entrance award criteria will result in the award being revoked. At that time, you will have 30 days to repay the amount of the award.
