Cost of Living Grant for International Students

As part of BCIT’s commitment to supporting international students, Student Financial Aid & Awards is pleased to announce a new grant of $400 aimed at supporting students struggling with the high cost-of-living in the lower mainland. These funds are aimed at supporting the well-being of BCIT’s international student population.

Eligibility Requirements

The Cost of Living Grant is only for BCIT students who meet the requirements listed below:

  • An international student enrolled in a minimum of 9 credits* in any BCIT program in Fall 2024
  • Students who demonstrate financial need through the application process
  • Have not previously applied for & received the cost of living grant.

*Students with less than 9 credits will be considered on a case-by-case basis

Application Process

Submit your application for the Cost of Living Grant by completing the following:

  • An application form through your myBCIT account;
  • A personal statement explaining your need for the grant (included in the application form)

How to Apply

The application form is available on your myBCIT account. Follow these steps:

    1. Go to myBCIT , and log in to your account.
    2. Click Online Self-Service.
    3. Select “Student Financial Aid & Awards” from the menu.
    4. Log in again with your A# Student ID.
    5. Select the “Web Application” icon.
    6. Select the correct “application term” and “Cost of Living Grant” to begin.

Note: Please read the instructions carefully and ensure all required fields are filled out. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

How to See Your Application Results

Application results will be visible through the “Web Application” section in myBCIT. If the status says “Approved”, you will receive a $400 cheque from BCIT. Disbursements will be made on a weekly basis beginning in November.

Application Deadline

This is an open & ongoing application, and will remain open until the funds are no longer available. Please note that funding is limited. Any updates will be shared on this webpage.
