UK Chevening Scholarship Information Session - Oct 17th Noon-1pm

October 17, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm PDT

Join Tom Codrington, Consul-General of Vancouver, British Consulate General Vancouver:

Chevening is the UK Government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and local partnership organisations.  It offers a fully-funded one-year master’s degree at any UK university for individuals who demonstrate the potential to become future leaders, decision-makers, and opinion formers.  It’s a prestigious programme whose alumni include 20 current or former heads of state or government.  In Canada, our notable alumni include Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Vice-Admiral Angus Topshee, Commander of the Royal Canadian Navy.

The application window for the 2024/25 academic year opens on 12 September and will run until 7 November.  We are particularly excited this year as we have launched two partnerships which will increase the number of scholarships available in Canada. These are:

  • The Chevening/Briggs Scholarship:  supported by Canada-based British entrepreneur and philanthropist David Briggs, this scholarship will give priority to strong applications from First Nations, Métis and Inuit students.
  • The Chevening/ATCO Scholarship:  supported by ATCO group, this is aimed at Canada’s next sustainability leaders.  It will be open to applications from those wishing to study a master’s course which can be linked to: the advancement of the energy transition and sustainability; the development of prosperous communities, Indigenous relations and equitable partnerships; or, affordable housing and community spaces.

Join us in person at the Indigenous Gathering Place, Burnaby Campus – Building SW1, Room 1521.
