Stigma Ends With Me – The Foundations (Fall 2024)

This event is part of the Healthier Substance Use, Addiction, and Harm Reduction Dialogue Series.

Join us for a virtual information session featuring Ashleigh Hyland, Program Manager, CAPSA, designed to enhance awareness, understanding, and compassion surrounding substance use.

By the end of this session, participants will:

  • Increase awareness of personal biases and understand the experiences of individuals who use substances.
  • Gain insights into the harmful effects of stigma on both individuals and society.
  • Discover how they can contribute to creating compassionate systems that improve health outcomes for individuals who use substances and society.

    Guest Speaker

    Ashleigh Hyland is a fully bilingual graduate from the University of Ottawa, holding an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Her dedication to advancing systemic change has been exemplified through her role as the Program Manager at CAPSA. Ashleigh is an esteemed expert and educator on the impacts of substance use stigma, the Principle of Substance Use Health, and person-first language. In her role, she strategically leads the successful delivery of CAPSA’s programs and services, transforming stigma into compassion, implementing strengths-based policies and practices, and advocating for equity in Substance Use Health.
