Course Overview
A review of the theory of ultrasonic testing and its practical application. Emphasis will be on the operation of the equipment, applications requiring specific testing procedures and the consideration of variables affecting the results. Course will include equipment performance checks, weld inspection and immersion testing. Meets the requirements of CGSB Standard 48.9712-2006 (Table 1) for classroom training. Course requires that students can use a calculator, manipulate formulae, apply basic trigonometry (sine, cosine, tan, arcsine, arccosine, arc tan) and use exponential functions.
