Course Overview
Provides the opportunity to study abroad and to immerse oneself in another culture while participating in class lectures and discussions. Students will be exposed to the visual Culture of 20th and 21st century using design, including architecture, objects, automobiles graphic and fine arts to disseminate the ideas. The work of key designers of this time period will be examined and discussed to understand the historical reasons for their development and the impact on the emergence of Japan as a leader in Visual Design Culture today. In order to make this connection, Japan will be compared to Western cultures.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe the various visual trends that are occurring around the world today and that have occurred throughout history.
- Identify, analyze and contextualize a variety of cultural and historical artistic expressions and periods.
- Create and deliver well researched, critically analytical and polished oral and/or written reports.
