Course Overview
Examines the planning stages involved in starting a new business including market, financial and legal responsibility requirements. Major emphasis is on the initial analysis of business viability prior to the preparation of a business plan. This course will be helpful for anyone wishing to start their own business.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Understand the importance of analyzing ideas before starting a business.
- Assess whether a new venture opportunity has sufficient potential market demand, product/service provision capacity, management skills, and financial commitment to represent a valid business opportunity.
- Identify and apply the distinctive research required to successfully complete a business plan.
- Discuss the types of information needed to evaluate competition.
- Explain the common legal forms of organization used by businesses.
- Define and select the most realistic form(s) of financing for a business.
