Course details
This course is focused on emerging object-oriented database technology. Object-oriented design and development is discussed with specific emphasis on database systems. Topics on handling large objects (LOBs) and database-web integration are also included.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Design a database application following the object-oriented paradigm.
- Explain how object-oriented database technology differs from relational and other database technologies.
- Apply Oracle PL/SQL programming and explain Oracle object-oriented database features, using Oracle Object Types, References, Collections, and Object Views.
- Explain design considerations for Oracle Objects and how objects are physically stored.
- Explain use of Oracle LOB data type and managing LOBs.
- Explain database-web integration concepts including business solutions using XML.
