Course Overview
In this course, students will explore a variety of concepts, tools, and techniques to generate publicity and earned media opportunities in an increasingly complex digital world—including building and leveraging relationships with the press and traditional/broadcast media, influencers, and customers—for B2B, B2C, and not-for-profit organizations. Students will analyze and plan public relations campaigns across communication channels, considering established digital and social platforms, emerging media environments, events and experiential marketing.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, you should be able to:
- Develop customized pitches for various media types.
- Collect and evaluate earned media metrics.
- Identify potential influencers and create outreach plans (including link building).
- Implement best practices for online engagement and building community.
- Compare tools and techniques for social media monitoring and social listening.
- Create reputation management plans, including generating reviews and referrals.
- Analyze the public relations strategies and tactics of a real-world IMC campaign.
- Develop team collaboration skills.
- Develop strong written and oral presentation skills.
