Course details
Covers fundamentals and applications of plumbing systems, which include potable water, storm water drainage, sanitary drainage and venting systems in buildings. Topics include the use of BC Plumbing Codes to size pipes for plumbing systems, and selection of materials and components. Examples of design and development of plumbing system layouts for buildings will be reviewed. This course may be eligible for students to receive funding through the StrongerBC Future Skills Grant at www.bcit.ca/financial-aid/strongerbc-future-skills-grant. Students register themselves into the course, then apply for the StrongerBC Future Skills Grant to cover payment, if eligible.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Establish the BC Plumbing Codes requirements for building plumbing systems.
- Design a potable water system.
- Design a storm drainage system.
- Design a sanitary drainage and venting system.
- Evaluate appropriate piping materials and components for potable water and drainage systems.
