Cardiology/Cardiovascular Course

International Fees

International fees are typically three times the amount of domestic fees. Exact cost will be calculated upon completion of registration.

Course details

This is the fourth of five theoretical courses intended to introduce you to the field of Cardiac Rhythm Device Technology. This course is designed to give you a more in-depth understanding of cardiac rhythm device follow-up. The focus is on patient and device assessment techniques used by device follow-up clinics to determine optimal device programming that will best serve the patient’s clinical and lifestyle needs. We will look at patient assessment and education, pacemaker, ICD and CRT assessment and programming. In addition, device troubleshooting techniques and EGM interpretation will be discussed. Other topics include strategies for managing patients with devices on advisory, ventricular tachyarrhythmia detection and SVT discrimination in ICDs, and incorporating remote patient monitoring into the patient’s device follow-up schedule.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Apply theoretical concept of cardiac hemodynamics to various modes of pacing.
  • Explain what information is to be derived during patient and CRMD assessment.
  • Apply safe principles to programming the CRMD using information attained during the assessment.
  • Recognize abnormal CRMD function and explain how to rectify the abnormality.
