Course details

​In this course, students will learn about communications in a connected world. Students will identify network devices and connections then install a simulation tool to allow further exploration of networks. After building a simple network, students will examine network protocols and will delve into the concepts behind network design.

Prerequisite(s)

  • Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Explain the concept of a network
  • Describe network data
  • Describe the different types of network media
  • Use a network simulator to build a simple network
  • Verify connectivity in a simple network
  • Compare common network communication models
  • Explain the three-layer network design model​​​
