Course Overview
This course covers details on the development of maritime weather patterns and systems. The contents include atmosphere, atmospheric pressure, wind, cloud, precipitation, visibility, frontal systems, ocean currents, depressions and storms. Students will make weather observations from instruments, record and report on weather conditions.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe the composition of the earth's atmosphere and its physical properties.
- Describe various cloud types and the conditions required for their formation.
- Define different types of precipitation.
- Explain fog, haze and mist and related visibility restrictions.
- Describe the principles of basic meteorological instruments.
- Use basic meteorological instruments.
- Describe frontal systems and their weather.
- Use ship code and decode book to record weather.
