Course details

This capstone integrative course is designed to dramatically improve the quality of student decision-making in a time sensitive global environment. Enables students to utilize the principles of strategic management enhanced by contemporary new analytical concepts. Simulates real-world decisions via team case studies and the applications of management decision support systems.

Prerequisite(s)

  • Acceptance into the Bachelor of Business Administration program.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:

  • Integrate related disciplines and skills in a time sensitive decision-making environment.
  • Apply strategic management techniques to specific public and private sector organizations, thus effecting desired changes within a comprehensive, responsive management system.
  • Adapt various decision tools to case studies and projects (i.e., Value Chain Analysis, Economic Value Added, Shareholder Value Analysis, standard financial statement analysis).
  • Apply strategic theories to business examples.
  • Analyse business problems using a structured decision model.
  • Recommend solutions to business problems.
  • Identify implementation issues when developing a solution to a business problem.
  • Apply the principles of Sustainable Competitive Advantage to business situations.
  • Analyze the competitive global economy (culture, politics, technology, economy) and relate the conclusions to various business situations.
  • Apply Strategic Repositioning and Organizational Adaptation to business situations.
  • Adapt the principles and skills from the program to form a comprehensive view of necessary management skills which successful managers will need for the future.
