Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Use a spreadsheet to collect, collate, organize and analyze quantitative data using descriptive statistics.
- Identify the type of management decision situations that can be analyzed through quantitative analysis.
- Select the appropriate Management Science technique for application to a particular problem situation.
- Collect, organize, and analyze data using manual and computer-aided techniques. Introduce the basic concepts of probability as it applies to business modeling.
- Develop and apply quantitative forecasting models to data that exhibit stationary characteristics (moving average and exponential smoothing), trend characteristics (simple linear regression) and seasonality. Evaluate the various forecasting techniques using MAD and MSE. Select the appropriate forecasting tool for real forecasting.
- Perform introductory statistical analyses involving time-series, simple linear regression and multiple regression and interpret the results.
- Formulate linear programming models; solve problems for two-variable problems graphically and interpret the results.
