Course Overview
This course provides an introduction to Digital Forensics, with an emphasis on the fundamental computing concepts and elements of digital forensics required for more advanced courses. Students will learn the fundamental components of a forensic investigation, including evidence collection, chain of custody, and forensic standards for legal evidence. At the end of the course, students will have all of the foundations required to pursue the more advanced courses in the Digital Forensics program.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Explain the overall flow and structure of a digital forensic investigation.
- Identify Windows computer-based artifacts.
- Describe crime scenes and procedures to collect digital evidence.
- Describe digital storage forensic characteristics.
- Describe the structure of a forensic lab, and the certifications/training required in the field.
