Course Overview
This online course will introduce Cardiac Sciences students to related health disciplines such as Nuclear Medicine, Sonography, Magnetic Resonance, Radiation Therapy, and Medical Laboratory as well as Advanced Cardiac Sciences practice areas. Each of these professions contributes to the patient’s overall diagnosis and treatment planning. The information from these areas will be correlated to fully understand the patient’s medical circumstances. Concepts in preceptoring/mentoring, and professional responsibility will be covered.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe the roles and responsibilities of various health care disciplines.
- Describe the role of the Cardiology Technologist as it relates to other diagnostic testing procedures
- Describe the patient care requirements prior, during and post examinations of commonly performed procedures.
- Describe the key concepts of other imaging modalities.
- Professionally, respectfully and mutually practice knowledge exchange with other members of the health care team to promote collaborative practice.
- Describe team philosophies and teaching principles and how this benefits learners in their clinical practice.
- Describe the role of the Cardiology Technologist and professional responsibilities with regards to the National Occupational Cardiology Profile.
