Course Overview
This course provides candidates with knowledge of Information Technology (IT) management issues in specific areas such as the evaluation, acquisition, and development of IT systems. It stresses the importance of aligning IT activities, projects, and operations within the corporate architecture, and with corporate goals and objectives. Candidates will gain the knowledge necessary to understand how an Information Technology division is structured and optimized. As well, candidates will learn several industry-acknowledged processes that provide guidance in change management and corporate alignment.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the candidate will be able to:
- Define an Information Technology infrastructure showing how it is comprised of hardware, software, networks, and processes.
- Demonstrate the ability to manage the investment in Information Technology via calculation of benefit cost and return on investment budgetary and financing estimates.
- Manage organizational changes arising from introduction of information technologies by demonstrating understanding and leadership in implementation and training processes.
- Develop processes that shorten systems development and software/hardware acquisition life-cycles by using generally accepted process management tools and understanding of international interoperability standards.
- Manage the IT department as the organization goes through structural and business changes utilizing a disciplined leadership of the change initiative.
- Explain the need for enterprise and adapt the information systems architecture to fit within, and support the organization.
