Course details

​This one week ONLINE course provides refresher theory and hands-on training required to conduct hearing tests on noise-exposed workers in industry, counsel workers on the results of their hearing tests and advise workers about hearing protection, and administer hearing conservation programs in industry. Students will need a computer with internet access and a camera. Successful, qualified students are eligible to be reauthorized by the BC Workers' Compensation Board as an industrial audiometric technician in B.C.

  4. The Audiometric Refresher course for WorkSafe BC-authorized Audiometric Technicians is now completely ONLINE. All students must ensure to have an up to date preferred email address in their myBCIT account to receive important course information. Students will need a computer with a webcam and good internet access. Students have 1 week to complete the course and can work on it anytime during the duration of the course. The course is compiled of 2.5 hours of recorded lectures, lecture quizzes and a practicum exam. Students MUST be available on one of the last two days of the course to complete their practicum. Practicums are one hour and the student must bring someone to test. If students are not available for the practicum dates, they must register into another course offering. No exceptions will be given. To register by phone, call Student Information & Enrollment Services (SIES) at 604-434-1610 / 1-866-434-1610 (press 2 - 'Flexible Learning Registration').
