Indigenous and Social Perspectives on Ecological Restoration 1 ECOR 9140

​This is the first of two courses exploring the human-nature relationship based on values and perspectives of Indigenous peoples. This first course will explore the historical and contemporary relations between Indigenous peoples and their traditional lands as it relates to stewardship decision making. Lectures, group discussions, and case studies are used to guide students to expand the scope of ecological stewardship and think about how to consider indigenous values among diverse perspectives and propose a commonly accepted solution to a hypothetical ecological restoration scenario. The course will set the stage for students to incorporate diverse world visions into their work as restoration practitioners.​
