Course Overview
This five-day hands-on workshop will introduce the user to the key features of Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Bridge for use in a law enforcement setting. This will include setting up a valid forensic workflow, utilizing best practices, testimony issues, and using Photoshop and Bridge for basic image adjustments as well as for clarification and analysis of fingerprints, questioned documents, footwear and tool marks, video and the preparation of courtroom presentations. Through a series of lectures and computer lab sessions, students will learn about relevant court issues, best practices for a forensic workflow, and valid forensic procedures for using Adobe Photoshop in the forensic environment.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Define forensic image analysis, digital enhancement, and key image processing terminology.
- Use a non-destructive, forensically valid digital imaging workflow.
- Describe current hardware and software applications used in digital imaging.
- Use Photoshop to make color, brightness and contrast adjustments to crime scene, evidence and traffic collision photos.
- Use Adobe Bridge to manage digital images in a forensics setting.
- Digitally enhance and chart fingerprints, questioned documents, video and other images.
- Size images to 1:1 or other specific sizes and make measurements from images.
- Correct Pixel Aspect Ratio in analog and DVR images.
- Calibrate monitors and printers for maximum color resolution and quality.
- Use Photoshop Actions and custom workspaces to make Photoshop an efficient tool for forensic image analysis.
