Course Overview
This course introduces students to sound forensic evidence acquisition techniques from the most common digital devices found today. From laptop/desktop computers, mobile phones, tablets, Raid arrays, USB drives, each device type often requires a unique combination of skills, techniques and forensic tools to capture a forensic image that can be used for evidentiary purposes. Also, the course offers a brief introduction into data recovery methods and techniques, which would assist the future investigator in extracting data from a non-functioning digital device.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Perform initial data recovery.
- Identify the various methods that can be employed to create a forensic image from a variety of digital storage devices.
- Conduct evidence acquisition from both live and dead systems.
