This program will enable tradesworkers to understand how to access the many qualified grants available, manage their money and debt wisely, save for the future, and recognize their financial rights.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Analyze current financial spending habits, produce an annual budget, and showcase an implementation strategy.
- Research government & private funding opportunities for apprentices.
- Understand various tax planning, tax strategies, and tax implications on common scenarios to trade apprentices.
- Describe how and when income is taxed in various Canadian tax-advantaged accounts.
- Recognize implications of different types of short-term & long-term debt.
- Specify saving and investment options and levels of risk.
- Identify an array of technology tools available to assist in implementing financial plan.

- This synchronous online financial literacy course is for current and future tradeworkers, providing valuable insights into financial planning, tax benefits, and financial assistance specific to the trades industry. Students enrolled in the course are eligible for a $594 tuition subsidy from the Rideau Hall Foundation, which will be directly applied to their BCIT account. Course instructors will provide detailed information on how to apply for this subsidy on the first day of class. Early registration is recommended as spots are limited.
