Course Overview
This course introduces the field of cybercrime and develops a core understanding of the intelligence and analysis challenges of working in the cyber environment. Topics include defining cybercrime, technology as a target, technology as an instrument, and evolving/emerging cybercrime threats. You will develop an understanding of the digital environment, hacker subculture, cyberstalking, data theft (identity, trade secrets, etc.), phishing attacks, hate crimes, credit card account thefts, malicious software and various applications.

- Discuss how cybercrime is on the rise.
- Analyze distributed denial of service (DDoS).
- Analyze criminal botnet operations.
- Analyze carding crimes.
- Analyze online mass-marketing fraud and ransomware.
- Discuss organized crime and the internet.
- Analyze online child sexual exploitation.
- Describe darknets.
- Explain cybercrime-as-a-service.
- Examine malware targeting mobile platforms.
- Discuss virtual currency schemes.
- Investigate cyber-facilitated stock market manipulation.
- Discuss cybercrime threats to industrial control systems.
