Course Overview
Introduces the techniques for interpreting and creating engineering drawings in accordance with Canadian Standards Association (CSA) drafting practices. Emphasis is on interpretation and the use of hand-sketching and basic drafting tools. The course also introduces the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) application software for mechanical drawing using 3D solid modeling techniques. The course includes a project to sketch, model, and document a simple design.

- Describe the use of sketching to graphically communicate design ideas. [1, 5]
- Create isometric and oblique sketches. [1, 5]
- Create three view drawings using orthographic projections. [1, 5]
- Construct and interpret sectional views and auxiliary views. [1, 5]
- Create simple 3D CAD part and assembly models. [1, 5]
- Create 2D orthographic, isometric, section, auxiliary, and drawings of 3d models. [1, 5]
- Annotate and document engineering drawings in accordance with CSA standards. [1, 5]
