Course details
This intermediate level course is designed to introduce the participants to various BEV chargers, charge rates, and troubleshooting techniques to solve common vehicle and infrastructure charging issues. Students need to understand electrical schematics and electrical circuit troubleshooting techniques. Scan tool operation to interact with the vehicle will be beneficial but not crucial for success in this course. This course covers various battery electric vehicle (BEV) charging behavior and best practices for charger maintenance to support efficient use of those vehicles.

- Automotive Service Technician or Electrician Red Seal Endorsement or Skilled Trades BC C of Q Level 3 or equivalent

This session combines both online self-paced learning and classroom delivery. Students are required to complete and pass the online HV Safety self-learning session prior to arriving at BCIT Burnaby Campus for the classroom and shop technical training. CSA approved safety glasses and steel-toed footwear required.

- Identify various levels of BEV charging and charger ports
- Discuss BEV charging infrastructure
- Diagnosis charging issues originated from various sources
- Analyze and repair BEV charger, charge cable and charge ports
- Use test equipment to repair on-board BEV charging system concerns
