Course Overview
This practicum is designed to provide students with the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge and entry level skills learned in a classroom setting in relevant work placements to practice and develop new skills in professional settings. Students will be employed in paid junior positions for the duration of this practicum. Students will complete tasks that relate directly to the core competencies of the Certificate in Essential Technical Skills in Architecture, Construction and Engineering. Students will be monitored and supported by faculty and program administration staff.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Integrate the foundational theoretical knowledge and applied skills gained from ACED 1200, ACED 1210 and ACED 1220 in a professional workplace environment. The students will be able to apply a minimum of three of the following five outcomes to their practicum, depending on whether they have been placed in an architectural, construction or engineering setting:
- Apply entry level building technology skills (ACED 1220);
- Apply entry level project management (ACED 1210);
- Apply entry level digital modeling skills (ACED 1200);
- Work productively as a junior member of a team in the office and in the field (taking direction, asking questions, executing requested tasks); and/or
- Communicate effectively in a professional environment.
- Demonstrate insight of the career options within the architecture, construction, and engineering fields.
- Analyze and evaluate professional interests and career goals.
