Course details

This course will prepare you as an event professional for the economic, environmental, and social challenges ahead in the event industry. You will learn how CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) is no longer a best practice, but a business standard. Using discussions and case studies you will learn about ethical issues in event management, and how leading global organizations have developed effective CSR in their meetings and events.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Discuss different aspects of CSR, ethics, and sustainable development as they relate to the events industry.
  • Explain the importance of ethical conduct for meeting and event professionals.
  • Analyze service providers based on their policies, training, and programs as they relate to social impacts, and environmental sustainability.
  • Explain the business case for CSR.
  • Apply a framework for identifying CSR initiatives for a meeting or event.
  • Identify the differences in global perspectives on CSR, ethics and sustainability.
